Questions

Good to know before you enter.

Do I need two years of accounting experience?

No. There is no minimum period of paid professional experience. Students in their final year, recent graduates and people starting their career may enter if they meet the eligibility rules.

Do I need to belong to a professional body?

No. Membership of a professional organisation is not required.

Can I use AI during the competition?

Only where a specific stage instruction expressly permits it. External assistance and generative AI are otherwise prohibited during controlled assessments.

Does the public vote affect the main winner?

No. People’s Choice is a completely separate award and does not add to or change any professional score.

Who can enter?

Eligible adults who live in, or mainly undertake relevant professional or educational activity in, England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

How is the main winner chosen?

The ten highest-scoring candidates in the Knowledge Assessment move to the Professional Challenge, provided they score at least 80%. If scores are equal, the candidate who submitted the assessment earlier ranks higher. The five highest-ranked candidates become finalists and take part in the live Client Challenge. The final ranking combines 40% of the Stage 2 score and 60% of the Stage 3 score. See the Terms and Conditions.

How does the Stage 1 test work?

It is a timed online test on Google Forms, open on 14 November 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 GMT. You sign in with a Google account using the email address from your application, and you can submit once. If you need extra time or cannot use a Google account, tell us before entries close.

What happens if two candidates have the same score?

In Stage 1, the candidate who submitted earlier ranks higher. For the final, the higher Stage 3 score decides, then the “client communication” score. If everything is equal, the finalists become joint winners and share the £1,000 prize equally. Full rules are in the Terms.

Is there really no entry fee?

Yes. There is no entry fee, membership requirement or award acceptance fee.

Who organises the competition?

KAIROS-K LTD (company number 14481271), registered office 48 Railway Street, Llanhilleth, Abertillery, Wales, NP13 2JB. Questions: office@kairos-k-practice.com.
